LIVE: US Midterms 2026 Results | Trump Admits Defeat | Can Democrats Flip Both Chambers Of Congress?
The 2026 US midterm elections are revealing signs of changing voter preferences, with young Americans showing stronger support for Democrats, according to The Associated Press Voter Poll.
Nearly seven in 10 voters under the age of 30 said they supported the Democratic candidate for the House of Representatives in their constituency. That marks a shift from the near-even split between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris among young voters in the 2024 presidential election.
The AP Voter Poll also found that nearly three in four voters were either “angry” or “dissatisfied” with the direction of the country.
However, voters under 30 account for only around 10% of the electorate, limiting the overall impact of their changing preferences.
The findings could offer an important indication of the political mood in America as Democrats and Republicans compete for control of Congress.
