The West Bengal Assembly Election 2026 controversy has now reached the Supreme Court of India. Trinamool Congress (TMC) has claimed that in 31 assembly seats, the victory margin was lower than the number of voters deleted during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process.
A Supreme Court bench of Justice Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi heard petitions challenging the SIR process in West Bengal. During the hearing, TMC MP and senior advocate Kalyan Banerjee argued that in several constituencies, deleted votes exceeded the victory margin. The Election Commission, however, maintained that election petitions are the appropriate legal remedy.
In this video, we explain:
* What is the Bengal SIR controversy?
* How significant are the claims of 91 lakh deleted voters?
* Why is TMC questioning results in 31 seats?
* Key observations made by the Supreme Court
* BJP vs TMC vote share and margin analysis
* Can the election results be legally challenged?
